CYNTHIA DUNNE
Cynthia Dunne has lived in Scarsdale with her family for 23 years. She served as Scarsdale’s Associate Village Justice from 2016 through January of 2022, when she was appointed to the position of Scarsdale Village Justice, following Judge Joaquin Alemany’s retirement.
Prior to joining the bench, Cynthia was an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York for 28 years, where she tried more than 20 federal jury trials to verdict, six bench trials, argued more than 20 appeals in the Second Circuit and argued one appeal in the Appellate Division, First Department. She is a three-time recipient of the Department of Justice’s Award for Superior Performance, a recipient of the US Department of Labor Secretary’s Exceptional Achievement Award, and a recipient of the United States Attorney’s Exceptional Achievement Award.
When Cynthia retired from federal service, she became an active community volunteer and has served on the boards of the Scarsdale Rotary Club, the Scarsdale League of Women Voters, the Hawthorne Foundation, Inc., Lakota Children’s Enrichment, and other entities.
